GREEK GEEK won the first stakes race of the day, the 25th running of the Alberta Breeders Handicap for three year olds an up over 1 1/16 miles. The CTHS Sale graduate was bred by Moonshine Meadow Ranch and is owned by Riversedge Racing Stables Ltd. The four year old Misremembered gelding has now won five of his seven starts in 2021 to bring his career earnings to $142,432.
The Bar None Ranches homebred runner SARAHS ELEGANCE dueled it out with Champion Three Year Old Pearl of Knowledge to capture the 25th running of the Alberta Fall Classic Distaff for three year old and up fillies and mares over 1 1/16 miles. This was the first stakes win for the four year old Run to Victory mare and brings her career earnings to $61,331.
CTHS Sale graduate DUNE D’ORO was the winner of the 25th running of the Red Diamond Express Handicap for three year old and up Alberta breds over 6 furlongs. The Atreides four year old was bred by Doug Oberg and is owned by Mitch Sutherland. Dune D’Oro has now won four of his last five starts and his lifetime earnings are at $152,961.
DANCE SHOES was the official winner of the 44th running of the Alberta Oaks for three year old Alberta fillies over 1 1/16 miles after holding off a late closing charge from Plum Blue. The three year old Mank filly has now won six of her nine starts and has $54,096 in earnings to date. Dance Shoes is owned by Mohamad Khan and was bred by James McFadyen.
The 41st running of the Sturgeon River Stakes Stakes over 6 furlongs for two year old fillies was captured by the favorite, ONEOFTHEMGIRLS. This was the first win for Oneofthemgirls in four starts and her first race in Alberta. The Exhi filly is owned by Highfield Investment Group Inc, Curtis Landry & Irving Devey and was bred by Highfield Investment Group & Curtis Landry. Oneofthemgirls was the high selling yearling in the 2020 CTHS Alberta Thoroughbred sale.
Bar None Ranches had a second win from another homebred in BOSS MAN CAN and his decisive victory in the 43rd running of The Alberta Premier’s Futurity for two year old Alberta breds over 6 furlongs. This win was even more impressive considering it was the first lifetime start for the Can the Man gelding.
The 40th running of the Beaufort Stakes for three year old Alberta breds over 1 1/16 miles was won by Theshack in an exciting finish by a nose against favorite Smart Play. This stakes victory was the third win in three starts for the three year old CTHS Alberta sale graduate who now has $39,394 in earnings. The Shackleford gelding is owned by Dorn Ries and was bred by Brad Auger & Running Fawcett Thoroughbreds Ltd.
